Bristol Businesswomen Celebrate International Women’s Day

Bristol’s networking group for entrepreneurial parents, Freelance Mum, will be marking International Women’s Day this year with a showcase event “Brave, Bold & Bonkers!”

The Bristol and South West network has been supporting freelance mums and dads for almost five years and today has just under 1,000 members. Meet ups are held twice a month and children are welcome.

Radio journalist and professional voice-over artist Faye Dicker, founder of the network said: “I’m proud to have founded this network and to announce this year’s International Women’s Day event will be held on Thursday March 8 at Redmaids’ High Junior School in Bristol, the oldest girls’ school in the country. We’ve got such a strong line-up of speakers and it promises to be the best event of its kind yet.”

Three guest speakers for the event will talk about being brave, bold and bonkers and they will be hosted by BBC Radio Bristol’s Laura Rawlings.

The first guest speaker, Gill Cockwell, also known as the fashion designer Gilly Woo, will be in conversation with Laura and will reflect on her dressmaking business and the next steps in her professional life.

Up next is the creative social entrepreneur, Jo Richings. Jo is an author, coach and creator of meditation and mindfulness tool The HappiMe App. She will be talking about overcoming breast cancer and working towards providing a positive future for the next generation.

The final guest speaker is Faye Dicker herself, founder of Freelance Mum. She will be leading an ‘embrace your inner bonkers’ workshop which promises to take a sideways look at life.

This year “Brave, Bold & Bonkers” will be held at Redmaids High Junior School, Westbury-on-Trym, BS9 4DP from 10am to 2pm and the cost is £25 for members and £30 for non-members.

Children can come along for free with a £4 supplement for lunch. More information can be found at https://www.freelancemum.co.uk/event/brave-bold-bonkers/
