Review: Stay and Dine at DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol North

We sent our Business Development Manager, Hayley, along to the Bristol North location of DoubleTree by Hilton. Read on to see what she made of the dinner and overnight stay.

I was invited to carry out a review of the DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol North. The first thing that struck me and my partner was the incredibly warm welcome we received during our arrival, not to mention the legendary complimentary chocolate nut cookie that was handed to us at checked in! We booked our table for the dinner in the evening and headed up to our room, past the lobby which gave an air of contemporary sophistication while at the same time being comfortable.

I took my partner with me as we were celebrating our anniversary and the setting was perfect. We entered our room, which was spacious with a super-king sized bed taking pride of place. The room was fitted with creature comforts like a coffee maker (my partner is a fanatical coffee lover), wide screen TV and all the other mod cons you’d expect from a modern hotel. The warm welcome continued with a personal card from the manager welcoming us, which was a fantastic individualised touch. Thank you, James!

We headed down to the Brunel’s Hat restaurant for dinner and were welcomed in a warm courteous manner, the whole team at DoubleTree certainly don’t take customer service for granted. The restaurant catered for all; from the hearty to the high end.

For starters, we ordered Hand Dived Sea Scallop & Norwegian Smoked Salmon, for the main course Casterbridge Fillet of Steak, Ewe Valley Braised Shoulder of Lamb. Dessert I had to go for the Signature Doubletree Cookie Cheesecake and my partner went for the Panna Cotta.

The whole meal was out of this world, each course was cooked to perfection and would be well placed in any famous restaurant. We would go back for the dinner alone! Again, the service was impeccable with each course brought to us in perfect time and cooked exactly as we requested.

My partner and I have children and the main thing that struck us about our stay was how easy it was to unwind -  something that we are not very accustomed to. If there was one thing we were looking for from our stay, it was relaxation, and we had that at the DoubleTree. We left feeling completely stress free. The hotel provided leisure facilities in the form of the Living Well Health Club, which lives up to its name. It has all the facilities you could ask for and great ease of access from the main hotel.

The hotel offered an extended check out time so at no point did we feel in a hurry to leave. Too many hotels mar your stay by ushering you out the door the minute you have finished breakfast, however, there was none of that here. Breakfast was catered for every preference, from full English to the more healthier option.

The hotel is well placed being only a twenty-minute drive away from the centre of the city and is also close enough to local shops if you need to pick up any extras for your stay. I would recommend it to anyone attending an event in Bristol. Its close enough to not get butchered by an expensive taxi journey but far enough away so that you can enjoy the end of the night in peace and comfort.
