Tackling Training and Skills at Ashton Gate Stadium

Visitors to Ashton Gate stadium are used to seeing their sporting heroes demonstrate their tackling skills on the pitch, but on 6 July tackling a very different set of skills will be on the agenda.

Just as a pacey new winger can make or break your team’s season, businesses know that finding the right people to do the job can be an uphill struggle, and that hiring mistakes can be just as costly as any transfer window clanger!

That’s why Business West is hosting its very first Future Skills Exchange on 6 July to help businesses begin to tackle their staff development needs and kick their recruitment challenges well and truly into touch.

Although investing in employee training might seem a little daunting, not to mention expensive, getting the right skills in your team and on your side, need not cost as much as you think.

For businesses in the West of England, there is a wealth of support available to help you recruit, train and retain the right people and it’s all absolutely free of charge.

At the half-day Future Skills Exchange event, our training and business experts will all be on hand to pass on their words of wisdom to help you think about how you achieve your long-term staffing goals.

We will help you identify your key recruitment, retention and training challenges and discuss potential solutions. You’ll also be able to find out what support is on offer in the region.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about how a more diverse and inclusive workforce can help accelerate their business’ growth, and receive practical guidance on how to make themselves more attractive and accessible to hard to reach groups in the West of England area.

Gavin Strange from Wallace and Gromit creators Aardman Animations, will recount his experience of developing his career in the creative industry, before some of the West of England’s brightest students and education providers will join us for lunch to talk about their experiences just before the final whistle.
