Your Total Guide To eating and drinking

Pancake Toppings

Pancake day is just around the corner, so we thought we’d share with you our flippin fabulous toppings! As much as we love a standard lemon and sugar combo it’s always nice to stem out and try something a little more different and out there for this one day a year!

Here's a few of our sweet and savoury favourites:

1. Strawberries, banana and salted caramel sauce

Top your pancake stack with an adundance of freshly cut up strawberries and bananas, drowning in salted caramel sauce. If you have a sweet tooth, this is definitely a topping option for you!

2. Chocolate chips and whipped cream

If you're not about drizzling ypur pancakes in sauce, go for a few squirts of freshly whipped cream with sprinkled chocolate chips. The chocolate chips can be of your preference, milk, white or dark chocolate.

3. Fresh fruit and maple syrup

Fancy something refreshing and not overloaded with sweetness? Try this, with sliced up succulent berry fruits such as strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, with a maple syrup drizzled over the top of your stack.

4. Strawberries and nutella

Fresh, succulent strawberries are always a winner on top of a pancake adding a resfreshement from rich chocolate and cream. Then coat the strawberries and pancake stacks with chocolate nutella spread or if you aren't a fan of that, could melt some white chocolate and drip that on top instead.

5. Butter and maple syrup

Simplicity is always better. The most enjoyable pancakes are the ones with the least on. A simple dollop of butter to melt slowly, immersing into the pancakes core. If this is a little too dry then perhaps add a drizzle of maple syrup for added sweetness and moisture.

6. Clotted cream with strawberries and sugar

Another simple classic with a dollop of rich, cornish clottled cream on top of your stack, surrounded in a plethora of cut up strawberries, saturated in sugar. This is a sweet classic and would be a good alternative to a cake in an afternoon tea perhaps?

7. Fresh fruit dusted with icing sugar

If sauces and syrups aren't for you, then why not try a dusting of icing sugar on top of your pancakes along with other toppings such as fresh, tasty fruits. This option is definitely lower in fat if you're watching the calories this pancake day!

8. Bacon, eggs & maple syrup

An American classic! Most of the pancake toppings can be topped with either normal or buttermilk pancakes, whereas Bacon and eggs with maple syrup is an American buttermilk pancake favourite! Most people would find it weird but a sweet and savoury option can always be a winner especially to fill you up!

9. Ham, cheese and tomato

Savoury can be a choice if you're getting in from work and have nothing planned for dinner. Try a simple ham, cheese and tomato combo, not too hard to prep nor get ingredients for. You could melt the cheese on the pancake before plating it up!

10. Salmon and chives

Go all out this pancake day with this fishy combo! Smoked, fresh salmon garnished with holandaise dressing and chopped up chives.

Have a go at these flippin fabulous toppings on your pancakes this pancake day!
