13 Student Study Tips in Bristol

Procrastination is a student's worst enemy! We've all been there, sat down to study and checked Facebook or Youtube and 4 hours later we haven't started studying!

Are you a student who's a professional procrastinator? Well, fear not, we've created a few top tips for making revision and studying a little more bearable.

PLAN
Make a realistic plan and stick to it! Knowing what you're going to study and will ensure you fit everything in that you need to.

BREAKS
Take breaks, don’t sit there all day pounding your head against the table, do as long as you feel you are taking things in for then go enjoy yourself for as long as you need to recover.

MUSIC
Listen to music whilst you revise. No matter what music you like you will always find something that motivates you to work.

KEEP IT CLEAN
Work in a clean and tidy environment, if you’re working in a mess, your head will be a mess. Tidy your workspace before you start and you won't have anything on your desk to distract you when you're trying to study.

TECHNIQUE
Find the technique that suits you best, whether you learn more by highlighting phrases and annotating your books, or if you prefer note cards and posters which you can hang on your wall and look at, make sure you use the right technique to suit you!

ENERGY
Maintaining your energy levels is key to learning and retaining that information when studying. Make sure you have plenty of brain food so you can snack throughout the day, if you have no energy to study, the chances are you'll fall asleep or procrastinate.

ELIMINATE DISTRACTIONS
Don’t get distracted! If you’re the type of person who will be easily distracted by Facebook, then deactivate your account for a day! You know what distracts you, so make sure you avoid having those distractions to hand.

TARGETS
When you’re working, set targets so you can reward yourself when you reach them, with a study break. This will help you reach your goals without getting too overwhelmed with the amount of work you have on.

KEEP GOING
Don’t stop half way through, if you have set yourself targets complete one at a time before stopping, this way you will get a sense of achievement.

REWARD YOURSELF
I
f you complete something well then give yourself a treat, whether it's a study break or some sweets.

STUDY WITH FRIENDS
As the saying goes, two heads are always better than one. When you're with friends they may understand something you don’t, so you can explain things to each other to help the information sink into and stay in your brain.

TEST YOURSELF
Check you're learning what you're studying by doing a little test at the end. You could use past exam paper questions or you could write the questions before you start studying, so you know what you want to achieve.

KEEP CALM
Don’t let it get the best of you. If you follow these tips you should have a greater time studying and revising.

Overall don’t give up try and try again.
