Business West Mentors Entrepreneurs of the Future

Ed Tellwright, Business West's Start-up Business Advisor, has been working with entrepreneurs and start-up businesses since 2013; advising them on the ins and outs of business planning and financial forecasting, through start-up workshops taking place across the South West.

Recently, Ed decided to dedicate his spare time to helping members of the Young Enterprise (YE), a leading UK charity that empowers young people to harness both their personal and business skills. By sparking energy and enthusiasm, the programme helps young people discover their individual talents and achieve what they once thought was once impossible.

Ed works closely with students and mentors them while they launch their own business. The students are responsible for all aspects of the business; enabling them to gain invaluable experience. Ed is one of 6,000 business men and women who donate their time to this national project, sharing their knowledge and experience with the entrepreneurs of the future.

Ed commented on his involvement with the charity:

“I am very pleased to offer my experience and knowledge to the young people involved in Young Enterprise, giving back and taking part in projects like this is not just something I enjoy doing but it’s also something that I feel is very important. Academic teaching doesn’t prepare you for starting your own business and I feel this is something that needs to be addressed.”

Today (15 March), the Young Enterprise West of England will be hosting the semi final of the annual company programme, with one team having the advantage of having had Ed as their mentor. This free event is sure to be a great evening with twenty-five schools from around the region attending.

Business West currently runs a range of start-up services, including workshops, mentoring and assistance accessing finance, successfully helping over 2,100 entrepreneurs to make their business idea a reality. Discover more here!
