Your Total Guide To business

How is the Construction Industry Shifting Towards a More Inclusive Environment?

The construction industry has always been dominated by men, but slowly but surely this is now changing and both construction and manufacturing are becoming more inclusive.

The construction industry has always been dominated by men, but slowly but surely this is now changing and both construction and manufacturing are becom-ing more inclusive. More needs to be done, but it is good to see that more women are pursuing careers in construction and that long-held views about women in this industry are shifting.

So, what can construction companies do to create a more inclusive work environ-ment for women?

Workwear & PPE Workwear and PPE are both areas that need to be addressed and improved. Comfort and fit are essential when it comes to workwear and PPE, but there are few options for women and this is a safety hazard and will make work much harder if women are forced to wear ill-fitting clothing.

Providing Access to Correctly Fitted Workwear Therefore, it is important for construction companies to invest in PPE and work-wear that is made for women so that they can work safely and comfortably each day. This workwear needs to be easily accessible so that female employees can easily find what they need each day.

Maternity Fit

In addition to this, it is also important to consider maternity wear for women working in construction. While pregnant employees may not be able to carry out certain tasks, it is still important that they have access to comfortable and fitting workwear and PPE so that they can continue to work and be active on the con-struction site while pregnant.

Encouraging More Women

It may seem like a small step, but making sure that female employees have easy access to fitted workwear designed for women can make a big difference and sends a positive message. This should encourage more women to get involved with traditionally male-dominated industries and help to create an inclusive work environment. It also communicates this message to men and anyone that holds outdated views about women working in industries like construction and manu-facturing that they belong and are an important part of the workforce.

It is excellent to see that more women are entering both construction and manu-facturing, but more needs to be done. Employers need to make sure that they are creating an inclusive work environment in order to attract female employees and communicate the right message. Providing the right workwear and PPE for women is one important step to take that could make a big difference while also ensuring that women can work comfortably and safely on site.
