Make the Extra Day Count this Leap Year and Attend a Special Business of Charity Event

George Ferguson, the Mayor of Bristol is set to chair a special Q&A event at Hotel du Vin in Bristol on Monday February 29 identifying obstacles facing business and charities both today and in the future.

Cecile Gillard, lawyer, from Burton Sweet Law and Accountancy firm will be setting the scene alongside speakers representing registered charities Unseen, Fairtrade Bristol, Business against Poverty, the business enterprise arm of registered Trowbridge charity, People against Poverty.
 
Mayor Ferguson will look to answer poignant questions such as, what has business got to do with charity? Should we support big, small, local or international charities? Why bother at all? Is the word charity relevant any more and where would our economy be without the existence of charities?
 
The morning will start at 8am with a welcome and keynote speech from George Ferguson. Other key speakers include Cecille Gillard, legal manager for charities and civil society at law firm Burton Sweet, Andrew Wallis OBE, founder of Bristol based human trafficking charity Unseen and Jenny Foster, Fairtrade co-ordinator for the South West. Immi Corry, will be introducing ‘The Big BaP Business Challenge’, a new initiative supported by Business against Poverty, designed to engage the business sector more fully in sustainable business development.
