What’s Trending in Gen Z Fashion for Girls?

When it comes to fashion trends, they tend to change most often among age groups belonging to Generation Z. Although that may make it a tad bit difficult to stay up to date with the latest craze, the rapid changes are also what keeps fashion so lively for teens and young adults. Focussing on the young ladies for this post, let’s find out what’s trending right now.

Jacquard Weaves

Turtlenecks and crewnecks in jacquard weaves and bright hues are a big hit with Canadian teens this winter. Named after its creator, the uniquely beautiful Jacquard patterns can only be weaved by experts using a Jacquard loom, adding that sense of exclusivity to them. The Danish luxury brand Ganni has caught on to the latest trend, making the jacquard weave a common choice for many of their winterwear collections. Pastel Hoodies

Do teenage girls really like hoodies as much as pop culture has led us to assume? Probably yes, given that they have never gone out of hip hop fashion for a single year since their inception. However, there have been subtle changes every few years and we are seeing one of those subtle trend-shifts now. As you can probably guess from the header, teenage girls have grown quite fond of pastel hoodies.

The advantage with pastel shades is the slightly muted effect which they have on fabric. Young women can pull off almost any color they want really, but the pastel effect makes even the loudest hues look classy. Unlike a couple of years ago, multicoloured pastel shades are not as popular this time around as bicoloured and unicoloured, designer pastel hoodies.

Short Parkas

Once it gets cold enough, nothing short of a parka will do for outdoor ventures. Things have changed a lot since the early days of parka. Neither you, nor your daughter should need to impersonate polar explorers anymore! Massive improvements and new introductions in winterwear insulation technology have changed how the modern parka looks and feels.

Short parkas in particular are a hit with Gen Z, especially with older teens and young adults. These are only a couple of inches or so shorter than the regular parka, but significantly shorter than the long parka. While it’s not uncommon to see models wearing parkas with short skirts, beware that it’s not a practical choice. If you need to wear a parka, it’s too cold for skirts in general.

Bright Fleece-Lined Leggings

So much focus goes into upper wear in winter, that it’s easy to forget about our bottom half. That’s not really true of course, at least not if we are discussing fashionistas. This year, fleece lined leggings in bright

hues are trending. Tribal prints are out for now and minimalistic but intricate geometric patterns are in. Black and other unicoloured leggings may work for adults, but the younger generation do not mind wearing the colours for now.

Classic Trench Coats

The trench coat is an overcoat of unmatched versatility. In fact, it’s one of the very few pieces of men’s clothing that made an almost unaltered transition in becoming a quick favourite for women as well. So, how does the new generation feel about the classic trench coat?

They have welcomed it without demanding any significant alterations. Sure, younger women may opt for lighter materials and shorter cuts, but the trench coat has remained a popular choice in general. Given how useful, fashionable, and versatile the trench coat is, it does not really come as a surprise.

Winter Sneakers

The snow boot is the default choice once it gets too cold and trudging through snow becomes a daily necessity. That too can make for some amazing fashion of course, but there is not much there in terms of variability. That’s why winter sneakers have slowly sneaked onto the forefront of Gen Z fashion scene this year.

Winter sneakers come in a wide variety of style options, but the trend for girls has shifted mostly towards high-top furry sneakers without laces. They go really well with the short parkas mentioned previously. If your location receives a lot of snow each year, you may want to look for harder, sturdier bottoms than just canvas. These will have an outer casing of leather/faux leather or a synthetic fiber to provide insulation.

Now that we have come to the end of our short list, it looks like colours and classics are dominating the Gen Z fashion trend right now. It’s a surprisingly balanced year in young people’s fashion this time around, but there’s good reason for it too. Generation Z includes the most versatile range of age groups that include everyone from middle schoolers and older teens to young adults. Consequently, their fashion trends also reflect that same versatility and manage to balance out nicely almost every year.
