FORTITUDE IV
FORITUDE IV are a four-man rowing team attempting to row across the Atlantic competing in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge
Bristol,
Website EmailStarting in December, the four-man team of military veterans will attempt to compete in one of the world’s most demanding challenges that has had fewer finishers than the number of people who have been into space.
Setting off from the La Gomera – Canary Islands, Fortitude IV will row over 3,000 miles unaided across the Atlantic Ocean to their final destination, the Caribbean island of Antigua .
Making up the Fortitude IV team are lifelong friends Tom Foley, Max Breet, Hugh Gillum, and Ollie Palmer. Competing in the challenge for the first time, the rowers will be relying on their military experiences after setting themselves the ‘easy’ task of beating the previous competition record of 29 days, 14hrs, and 34 minutes that was set in 2017.
Taking to the seas in the World’s fastest rowing boat – the Rannoch R45 – the rowers have committed as much as they possibly can to fund the cost of the vessel. But now they need your help.
Needing to raise roughly £130,000 to cover equipment and entry fees, Fortitude IV are seeking the help of the public and businesses alike to help create history. Find out more about sponsoring the team by clicking here.
Attempting the gruelling voyage to raise awareness and funds for the West London Zone Charity, who work to ensure children living in one of the most deprived areas in the UK can live a happy and independent life, the team are relying on the help of others to make this selfless mission a success.
With many of the children the charity work with affected by the Grenfell Tower disaster, the WLZ are aiming to raise £3 million by 2023 to empower 3,000 children across London.
