CHARLI XCX FIRST EVER BRISTOL FESTIVAL  SATURDAY AT FORWARDS

CHARLI XCX FINAL HEADLINE ACT FOR FESTIVAL DEBUT
JOINING SATURDAY LINE UP JAMIE XX. LITTLE SIMZ + KHRUANGBIN
IN BRISTOL THIS SEPTEMBER

Fresh from last week’s seminal sold-out Alexandra Palace gig, Britain's ‘main pop girl’ Charli XCX is revealed today as the final headline act and latest riotous tour-de-force to hit FORWARDS main music stage in Bristol this September, making her first ever festival appearance in the city.

Following the release of her first UK number one album CRASH, and current UK and North American tour, the avant-pop performer, singer-songwriter-producer, will take the stage by storm on Saturday for an iconic Bristol show, that cannot be missed.

Known for speaking out, stepping back from social media and focusing on her mental health, Charli XCX, embodies the essence of FORWARDS for urgent conversations side by side with music. After her groundbreaking debut documentary 'Alone Together' tested her creative limits and united a global community of vulnerable LGBTQ+ fans, Charli XCX continues to be a leading voice of a generation.

Putting her own spin on mainstream pop, Charli XCX is behind some of the biggest tracks of the last decade, from hits like Out Out, I Love It and Good Ones, to collaborations with Cardi B, Rita Ora, Iggy Azalea, and David Guetta, right through to her landmark lockdown album ‘how i’m feeling now’.

FORWARDS. MORE THAN A MUSIC FESTIVAL:

FORWARDS is the biggest new international music festival for Bristol, and the first collaboration for AEG Presents and Team Love. The 2 day festival challenges what metropolitan festivals can be today, kickstarting a new breed of city festivals by committing to positive change through social initiatives and a powerful platform for discussion.

As well as the two main music stages, FORWARDS will also platform urgent, forward-thinking conversations. There will be a discussion on race by former footballer and author of The Uncomfortable Truth About Racism John Barnes MBE in conversation with Bristolian poet and active media spokesperson on the Colston Four trial, Lawrence Hoo, as well as discussions on trans rights and gender fluidity, the cost of living crisis, feminist agendas and the music industry today, plus more. Other speakers include Lemn Sissay, Jack Monroe, Jay Rayner and Shon Faye.

FORWARDS has built social initiatives into its infrastructure, so that they are at the core of what the festival is and how it runs. Amongst numerous initiatives, FORWARDS will open doors for young people with Community Interest Company, Big Team, providing paid festival job placements to those who have historically found the events industry difficult to break into, and partnering with community catering company Team Canteen who fight against food vulnerability, and will now provide community-led catering across the festival.
