Musical sparks will fly when Fulltone Orchestra plays Bath Abbey

The Fulltone Orchestra, known for its atmospheric performances and big, bold sound, is set to make an explosive appearance at Bath Abbey with A Classical Explosion, a concert of history’s most high-impact, incendiary music next month (Thursday November 4).

It’s a firework display for your ears, featuring Holst’s Jupiter, Mussorgsky’s Night on a Bare Mountain and of course Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture as well as works by Sibelius, Bernstein and Rimsky-Korsakov.

The Wiltshire-based orchestra features 65 of the best musicians in the South West, who are touring the county to bring inspirational music back into our lives post-pandemic. The Bath event is the second of three – and a tempting alternative to standing out in the cold waving a sparkler.

Musical Director Anthony Brown is excited about playing at Bath’s historic Abbey.

“It’s such an awe-inspiring setting for an evening of spectacular music,” he said. “It’s a beautiful place, and we can create an amazing, atmospheric sound there. No actual fuses will be lit on the night and no pets will be scared by loud bangs yet the programme is designed to get your heart exploding with colour and lightning.”

Founder Anthony – the ‘Tone’ part of Fulltone – lives in Devizes in Wiltshire and is dedicated to sharing his passion for music with the public. He pulls out all the stops to create an impact that appeals to hard-core classical fans and newbies alike.

“Our aim is to create music that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up,” he said.

A Classical Explosion will be exploding into life on November 4 at Bath Abbey at 7:30pm. Tickets for this fun, family-friendly event start from £18 at bathboxoffice.org.uk.

A retiring collection for the Forever Friends, Bath Hospital will be held on the night.
