National Theatre Live: Golden Boy

A filmed stage screening of Clifford Odets’ classic drama, starring Josh O’Connor, exploring ambition, identity and the cost of success.

Josh O’Connor leads the cast in a searing revival of Clifford Odets’ knockout American classic, filmed live from the Almeida Theatre and brought to life with a live string quartet.

1930s New York, at the height of the Depression. Joe Bonaparte is a gifted young violinist with a future in music, until the lure of fame and fortune draws him into the brutal world of professional boxing. The story follows what he is willing to sacrifice, who he is willing to become, and how to find a place in a world that demands a choice of sides.
