The much loved theatre is nearly 103 years old and over the years has welcomed audiences to this historic venue to be entertained by all manner of theatrical performances, from musical hall and twice–nightly variety in the early years, to comedians, opera, ballet and top West End musicals today.
Owned by the Ambassador Theatre Group, The Bristol Hippodrome staff are hugely proud that it is one of the company’s flagship venues out of the 39 within their UK portfolio. The theatre is continuously growing and goes from strength to strength, with more and more West End shows gracing the stage and delighting audiences.
The award is being run by My Theatre Matters! in association with Smooth Radio. This is an unparalleled opportunity to vote on how important local theatre is to you and your community. The Bristol Hippodrome team are hopeful that the people of Bristol will get on board and cast their vote in naming it the UK’s Most Welcoming Theatre.
The Bristol Hippodrome’s General Manager, Neil Chandler said: “Bristol is an incredibly welcoming city and the Hippodrome rightly plays its’ part in that. It would be a fitting achievement if the warm Bristol welcome that we extend to hundreds of thousands of patrons each and every year was recognised by this national campaign.”
The UK Theatre Awards are the only awards to honour outstanding achievement in Regional and National theatre and this year for the first time, UK Theatre will be announcing 12 regional and national My Theatre Matters! Most Welcoming Theatre Award Winners in the run-up to the UK Theatre Awards ceremony next month.
The overall winner of the Most Welcoming Theatre prize will be announced at the UK Theatre Awards ceremony at London’s historic Guildhall.
