'Withdrawn' at Leigh Woods by Luke Jerram

From April 2015 Luke Jerram, local artist of sculptures and live artworks, invites visitors to Leigh Woods in Bristol to experience an unexpected encounter with a flotilla of abandoned fishing boats installed in the depths of the woodland.

A beautiful, surreal and poetic vision in the woods, the sound of the wind in the trees is reminiscent of the sound of the waves. All of the boats are pointing the same way as if turned by the tide or moving together. The boats can be explored by the public. At night the navigation lights of the boats will come on, and may be spotted blinking in the woodland.

This thought-provoking and engaging exhibition raises discussion about climate change, extreme weather, changing ocean temperatures, falling fish stocks and our impact on the marine environment.
