Exciting New Thai Spot Set to Spice Up St Michael’s Hill
Bristol’s food scene is about to get even more exciting. A new Thai restaurant and takeaway is getting ready to open on St Michael’s Hill, bringing fresh flavours and lively street-food vibes to this busy part of the city.
The new spot, called Je Jean’s, will move into the old pizzeria at the corner of St Michael’s Hill and Myrtle Road. The menu will feature classic Thai dishes, including khao kaeng (Thai curry rice), sushi, and other Asian-inspired favourites. It’s a great choice for a quick lunch or a relaxed evening meal.
Jirarat “Jean” Reis, a well-known chef in Bristol who also runs Jean’s Bistro on Gloucester Road, is behind this new opening. The new restaurant is part of a growing collection of food ventures led by the same experienced team. Alongside the popular Gloucester Road bistro, the chef also owns the Thai minimart next door. The chef has also launched Jinzu, a Japanese takeaway which opened on Gloucester Road in the autumn, further cementing the street’s reputation as one of Bristol’s most vibrant independent food destinations.
The official launch date hasn’t been set yet, but insiders say the new restaurant is aiming to open in late January 2026. Food lovers can look forward to something new and tasty this year
Total Guide readers can look forward to more updates and, hopefully, some sneak peeks before the official launch.
