Autumn bursts onto the scene at Westonbirt Arboretum
Autumn has finally arrived at Westonbirt Arboretum. Watch the National Arboretum transform into a glowing patchwork of scarlet maples, amber hickories, and golden beeches.
Over 2,500 tree species from across the globe are now putting on one of nature’s most breathtaking shows.
This year’s display is expected to be particularly vivid, thanks to the sunny summer and recent colder days. From late September through mid-November, visitors can experience the Arboretum at its most magical, with colour radiating across both the Old Arboretum and Silk Wood.
Half Term Family Fun
For families looking to make the most of the season, Westonbirt is brimming with hands-on activities during the October half-term with drop-In activities from Tuesday 28th – Thursday 30th October. Create colourful leaf crowns, mobiles, or bookmarks while discovering the science behind autumn’s dazzling display.
How about a beautiful Autumn Walk with the family?
On Monday 27th and Friday 31st October explore seasonal changes with games, crafts, and science activities. Morning sessions are tailored for younger children, while older ones can dive deeper into autumn ecology in the afternoons.
The Art of Autumn Family Trail runs to November where you can follow a creative, interactive trail with sketchbooks and crayons which will be provided. This family trail is designed to inspire imagination while learning about trees.
Experiences for All Ages
Westonbirt’s seasonal highlights go far beyond family activities. This autumn visitors can also enjoy:

Peak colour is expected throughout October into early November, making the October half-term the perfect time to step into one of the UK’s most stunning seasonal landscapes.
