Local charity Julian House is calling all local businesses to enter a team in the fast paced, adrenaline fuelled Julian House Dragon Boat Festival which will take place at Baltic Wharf, Bristol on Saturday 5th September.
Simplyhealth is sponsoring the event and local dragon boat team, Bristol Empire Dragons gave some of its staff a practice row along the Avon Canal to encourage them to sign up and take part.
Mark Hamson, spokesperson for Simplyhealth comments: “We’re excited to be sponsoring the Dragon Boat Festival and will be entering at least one team. We hope everyone has a great day which will enable Julian House to continue the fantastic work they do.”
Event organiser Alexis Woodward, from Julian House adds, “We are really excited that Simplyhealth has chosen to support our event. Julian House is a local charity that helps people who have faced real hardship because of problems like homelessness, addiction and domestic abuse.”
“This event will raise funds for Julian House which will enable people to begin to rebuild their lives again, but the event will also bring together other local charities to show the Bristol community exactly what support exists to help when it’s really needed.”
“The Julian House Dragon Boat Festival, sponsored by Simplyhealth is a great opportunity to bring staff together to take part in the hugely popular and highly competitive dragon boat racing.”
“The event gives staff the chance to enjoy a social day out at Bristol’s Harbour side, while also helping to raise funds that will change people’s lives for the better.”
Alexis concludes, “Crews do not need to be super fit or skilled – it is all about teamwork and having fun! There are only two opportunities to take part in dragon boat racing a year in Bristol, this is your teams last chance to enter so don’t miss the boat!
