REVIEW: Summertopia at Avon Valley, Possibly the Best Day Out for Kids in the South West!

We may have just found the ultimate summer day out! For our first ever visit to Summertopia at Avon Valley, we traveled over two hours from Dorset – and it was more than worth every mile. In fact, it might just be the best attraction for kids in the South West.

We arrived just after midday and stayed right up until closing at 5pm, but still didn’t manage to get around everything - there’s just that much to do! Thankfully, your ticket includes a free return visit, so we’ll be heading back soon.

The sun was shining, the skies were clear, and my girls (7 and 4) were in their element. They loved splashing about in the giant paddling pools, racing down the huge slip and slide (this was my 4 year olds first go at a slip and slide and I was worried she would be too nervous to give it a go but although it gives you a great ride, it's not too steep for the smaller ones. They loved exploring the farm; feeding the goats was a particular favourite! They even rode dinosaurs, which completely blew their minds. We were gutted to just miss the pig racing, but that’s top of our list for next time.

They squeezed in everything else they could: Silent disco fun, Chair-o-Plane ride excitement, Giant jumping pillows (parents - pack socks for this - we didn't and it was such a hot day their feet were really hot on the giant bouncy pillow), Go karting action, Tractor Ride, Raptor Experience and a high-energy Foam Party to end the day on some wet and wild party classics on a serious high! We missed the mini Jeep Safari, Miniature Railway, Quad Bikes, Climbing Walls, Big Red Slide, Mini Golf and the Indoor Playbarn - lots of new areas to experience when we return.

We brought a picnic (plenty of great spots for it), but couldn’t resist grabbing ice creams and bubble tea from The Coffee Box. There are loads of brilliant food and drink options too – from stonebaked pizzas, BBQ burgers and loaded fries to nachos, kids’ meals, and plenty of cold treats. How long should we stay?

Make a full day of it! We arrived at 12 and didn’t get close to seeing it all. Get there early to soak up everything.

Is it worth the travel from further afield?

100% yes. We came from Dorset (over 2 hours each way!) and it was more than worth it – we’ll be back!
