Bristol Fashion Week Festival 2019 Review

Bristol Fashion Week Festival took place from Wednesday 3rd April until Sunday 7th April at The Mall Cribbs Causeway. The Total Guide to Bristol team went along to experience what they had to offer and we were not disappointed.

There were 4 tents; Main Stage, Beauty Room, Experience Room and Stylist Room.

The Main Stage was bright and clean with balloons at one end and flowers gracefully positioned falling from the ceiling. Down the middle was the runway and either side of it had staggered steps which was a casual seating arrangement with cushions for the audience to be able to see what was happening. When seated, there were screens overhead that showed what was coming up next, the sign language interpreter, a camera person getting a close up view of the show and for the fashion show they showed each outfit and where to buy what the models were wearing.

Each day there were 3 shows that ran on a rotation and each day was different content. There was an influencer talk in which Caryn Franklin would interview influential people in the fashion industry, the fashion show and styling workshops. Each of the shows was really inspiring in different ways and TGtB believes they achieved the goal of their hashtag #feeluplifted.

The Beauty Room had make up artists ready to show you new products for your face. There were different foundations that they coloured matched your skin and gave you a sample to use at home, someone doing eye shadow and someone else showing you their contour pallets and eyebrow products. You could have a full make over and try new products!

The Experience Room was bigger and had more to do! It was anything from having your hair or nails done to getting an O2 facial. We tried out the O2 facial which consisted of using a tool to blow oxygen and a serum of your choice to bring life back in to your face. We also had a hand and arm massage which was very relaxing. It was a very positive experience having watched the shows, had a make over then a hand and arm massage.

Finally, The Stylist Room had a group of stylists with a selection of clothes from the shops in The Mall and did a free 10 minute consultation in which you talk about what you wear currently and why. They then ask you a few questions to understand your likes and dislikes then pull clothes off the rack to hold in front of you to see in the mirror. They recommend colours based on skin tone, patterns for body shapes and length for those features you want to hide or accentuate. Our point of view has been changed about ourselves and what we wear and we marched straight in to The Mall to start looking for the types of clothes and styles we discussed.

We would like to make a special mention to The Bristol Nomad who took a variety of photographs and videos for us to help document Bristol Fashion Week Festival 2019.

Total Guide to Bristol can’t wait for what the 2020 event will hold but one thing is for sure – we will be there!
