Spring home improvement projects

Spring is the perfect time to begin those home improvements you’ve been putting off. With longer days and summer just around the corner, you might be thinking of brightening up your home, creating an inviting garden space or de-cluttering.

We’ve put together some ideas to get you started and give your home a refreshing new feel in time for you to enjoy those long, hot sunny months.

Add a splash of colour

This is a great time of year to add a bit of colour and reflect the lighter days. Boost your mood with sunny yellows, bright oranges and earthy greens. Paint a whole room or add a feature wall with some brightly patterned wallpaper. Choosing colourful rugs, cushions, curtains or throws will give a room an instant uplift and makes it easy to create a spring theme.

If you want to be a little more daring, choose vibrant, bold colours such as fuchsia or turquoise to make a statement and create a lively space.

Repair any winter damage

With the UK having suffered its fair share of storms, it’s a good idea to check for any damage such as roof or gutter leaks as well as fence issues. With the weather improving, spring is the perfect time to make any repairs. Clear out any remaining leaves and check roof tiles are all in the correct place. It’s also a good time of year to tackle any external painting that needs doing.

Updating the Garden

Tending to the garden is a great way to spend time outdoors and could help improve your mood. Mow the lawn, trim back any trees or hedges and create a colourful springtime flower bed. Get your power tools at the ready to fix any fencing problems or begin building a decking. Make sure to use the correct timber and quality tools such as a Milwaukee drill to help your project run smoothly. Treat your decking to help protect and maintain it throughout the year.

De-clutter and deep clean

Embarking on a spring clean will transform your space and it’s a great chance to get rid of any unwanted clutter. Focus on one room at a time to make sure you’re not overwhelmed and tackle those forgotten jobs such as wiping down the windows, skirting boards and doors as well as cleaning the carpets.

It’s also a good opportunity to clean appliances such as fridges, ovens and microwaves. Whilst this is not the most glamourous job, it’s sure to make your home feel fresher and ready for the new season.
