Total Tube: Team Building at South Cerney Outdoor

Earlier this year we were incredibly excited to welcome South Cerney Outdoor to the site!

Based in the Cotswold Water Park between Cirencester and Swindon, South Cerney Outdoor is home to a fantastic array of water sports and activities including canoeing, kayaking, sailing, archery, orienteering and teambuilding. 

For 'testing purposes' a day out was arranged so that the team could get a feel for what South Cerney Outdoor has to offer first hand.

The team kicked off the day with a spot of land based teambuidling challenges. During the 'Nightline Challenge' the team had to follow a guide rope around an obstacle course whilst blind-folded. 

We were all required to stay in physical contact with each other and communicate well in order to achieve a safe and effective navigation of the course.

Not only did it help us explore our communication skills but it identified how the team deal when receiving instructions and information. 

Next the team took to the water for a leisurely canoe tour around the lake. Watersports can be excellent activities for personal development as well as building teamwork, communication, confidence, coordination and trust skills.

After mooring our canoes on the bank of the lake, we sat around the campfire for a spot of lunch before making our way back to dry land for an archery lesson. 

To finish off the day, our leadership, communication, team working and project planning skills were put to the test with a raft building challenge. It took us just 30 minutes to construct and sail our raft to the middle of the lake without getting wet!
