What to Write in Father’s Day Cards

Father’s Day is a very special occasion where we celebrate and honour one’s fatherhood, which is most usually done so by giving gifts and Father’s Day cards.

Unlike birthdays or Christmas however, usually, not many gifts are given to fathers as this is not seen as a celebration that bears as much significance. This shouldn’t stop you from giving wonderful Father’s Day cards though, as they are not expensive and are a great way to celebrate and honour your father, such as these cards available on Boomf!

Selecting a beautiful card can be the easy part, however, as all beautiful cards need an equally as thoughtful and meaningful message inside; one that comes from the heart. Finding the right words to honour your father on their special day however can be excruciatingly hard, and many people face writer's block when attempting to write a message to include in a card. But fear not, as the rest of this article will explain what you should include in Father’s Day cards.

Father’s Day Message

The most common thing to write on Father’s Day cards is a simple reference to the occasion. This could be a simple sentence such as ‘Dear father, happy Father’s Day!’. This sentence gets straight to the point and wishes your recipient a happy Father’s Day. It can also be used as an introductory line to the rest of your message.

Something meaningful

Once you have gotten the obvious message out of the way and wished your father a happy Father’s Day, it can also be a nice gesture to include something a bit more meaningful in the message. A great way to do this is either to highlight how thankful you are for something that they have done or helped you through or highlight your favourite qualities of them.

This could be something such as:

  • Thank you so much for being the best dad in the world by helping me get through my Driving exam!
  • You are the best father in the world as you are an excellent chef!

Thoughtful messages such as these will give your card a little bit more meaning and are a great way to make your father feel appreciated for all the hard work that he does.

Father’s Day Jokes

Fathers are notoriously the bearers of ‘dad jokes’, so how about you include a funny joke of your own? Any joke can be a fun inclusion in a card message to make the recipient laugh, but you could also try to come up with a Father’s Day specific joke to really lighten the mood.

Examples of one-liner dad jokes you could include in your message are:

  • There’s a big difference between bad jokes and dad jokes. And that difference is the first letter.
  • What do you call a dad that has been transformed into ice cream? A POPsicle!

Although your joke doesn’t have to be Father’s Day specific, it would add a little bit of flare to your message for your recipient.

Make Him Feel Special

A final thing that you should try to include is something to make them feel special and loved. Fathers mean so much to us, and so you should try to make them realise just how much they mean to us. Try to tell them how much you love them by including an ending to your message such as ‘Thank you for being the best dad in the world, or ‘I love you to the moon and back daddy. These messages will surely put a smile on your father’s face.

Writing a Father’s Day card shouldn’t be that hard, and with the tips and pointers covered in this article, you should be able to write your own Father’s Day cards from now on.
