REVIEW: Summertopia at Avon Valley Adventure Park

If you're looking for a family day out that genuinely offers something for everyone, Summertopia at Avon Valley Adventure Park should be high on your summer holiday list.

We visited with our two daughters (aged 8 and 5), my parents and a friend. We'd also visited last summer, but what struck us this time was how completely different our day felt. With so much included in your ticket, we discovered new favourites, revisited some of the classics and still didn't manage to fit everything in!

More Than Just a Summer Event

While Summertopia brings all the summer fun with its beach, giant Slip 'N' Slide and daily foam parties, it's important to remember that you're also getting access to Avon Valley Adventure Park, meaning there's an incredible variety of attractions to enjoy throughout the day.

Our girls couldn't wait to jump behind the wheel of the Mini Jeep Dino Safari, driving their own little Land Rovers around the off-road course before racing each other on the pedal go-karts.

The huge bouncy pillows were another massive hit (they could have spent all afternoon bouncing!), while the adventure playground kept them entertained for ages with its giant slides, climbing frames and zip wires.

When the afternoon sun became a little too warm, we headed into the large indoor soft play, which was the perfect place for the children to cool down while continuing to burn off energy.

Classic Avon Valley Favourites

One of the reasons we love Avon Valley is the sheer variety.

Throughout the day we met the friendly farm animals, laughed our way through the always-entertaining pig racing, climbed aboard the tractor ride, and enjoyed a relaxing journey on the much-loved miniature railway.

It's this mix of animals, rides, adventure play and seasonal entertainment that makes the park feel so much more than just another family attraction. Every corner offers something different, meaning children naturally move from one activity to the next without ever getting bored.

Summertopia Brings the Summer Magic

Of course, no Summertopia visit would be complete without getting soaked!

The children loved spending time on the beach, before running back again and again for the giant Slip 'N' Slide. Then came everyone's favourite part of the day – the foam party finale!

Watching hundreds of children laughing, dancing and disappearing into mountains of foam was the perfect way to end a brilliant family day out. It's exactly the kind of carefree summer memory that school holidays are all about.

Perfect for Three Generations

One thing we particularly appreciated during this visit was how well the park caters for the whole family. My parents loved having plenty of shaded seating where they could relax while watching the children enjoy themselves. They didn't feel like they had to constantly walk around to be involved, and it made for a lovely day out for all three generations.

That's something not every attraction gets right, but Avon Valley does brilliantly.

Fantastic Value This Summer

With so much included, it's almost impossible to experience everything in just one visit – which makes Avon Valley's summer offers even better.

When you buy a standard day ticket, you can return for another visit completely free during the summer holidays (see the Avon Valley website for full terms and eligible dates). It's a fantastic bonus and means families can come back to enjoy all the attractions they didn't quite get around to the first time.

If you're planning a family staycation, don't overlook the park's brilliant camping offer either.

Grass pitches are just £70 per night for up to six people, and your booking includes two full days in the Adventure Park. That's exceptional value and works out at around £11.67 per person for one night's camping and two action-packed days of family fun.

Our Verdict

After visiting for the second summer running, one thing became very clear...

One day simply isn't enough.

Whether you're watching pig racing, riding the miniature railway, meeting the farm animals, driving mini Land Rovers, bouncing on giant pillows, zooming down zip wires, cooling off in the indoor play barn, splashing on the beach or dancing through the foam party, there's always another adventure waiting around the corner.

What we love most is that every visit feels different. The children chose completely different activities this year, which made it feel like a brand-new experience despite us having visited before.

Whether you're visiting from Bristol, Bath or further afield, Summertopia at Avon Valley Adventure Park is one of those rare attractions that genuinely caters for toddlers, older children, parents and grandparents alike.

And with a free return visit included this summer, there's every reason to come back and do it all over again.

Top Tip: Don't try to rush around and tick everything off in one day. Let the children explore at their own pace, then make the most of your free return visit to discover everything you missed the first time. It's one of the best-value family days out we've experienced this summer.
